[Update 31/1/7 - fixed links at the bottom of the post and added one more]

I was asked again last night for the second time (by Jamie Murray Wells, CEO and founder of Glasses Direct), if I was a prolific blogger - apparently he recognised my name within the blogsphere.

My main motivation for writing this post is to record why Jamie recognised my name. He probably witnessed my commentating about TechCrunch UK closing for business – a story that took the blogsphere by storm.

I don’t wish to add more fuel to the fire or trigger further debate on the subject of TechCrunch UK being closed for business by Mike Arrington and I don’t really want to raise the dirt again about the sacking of Sam Sethi and resignation of Mike Butcher from TechCrunch UK. So please don’t hit me with ‘why the hell are you dragging this up again’ type questions.

My second motivation is to put on record (for the sake of my ego), that I’m 100% certain that I was the first to blog the news. I’m confident because I was on a Skype call with Sam during his exchange with Arrington - just in case you’re wondering.

So, to finally answer the question, NO, I’m not a prolific commentator. But I am trying to be the best blogger that I can be.

That said, I was a prolific commentator on the TechCrunch spat and I was the very first person to blog the news on the Web 2.0 Ireland Web site. So, I was partially responsible for helping Sam reach no 3 on Technorati, ranking higher than Britney Spears :) I then played a role on Mike Arrington’s own blog, Crunchnotes, as I thought he was taking his commentating a little too far.

If this story is news to you, you obviously spent most of your time in a cave during the month of December, or you’re new to the blogsphere. So, for your benefit, I’ve pasted some references to my blog posts below.
