[...] Last Tuesday, Paul Campbell gave RubyIreland’s first “lightning talk” (on RIO btw). The lightning talk is an idea he picked up from his recent visit to the superhappydevhouse in California. Naturally it wasn’t long till talk turned to having a shdv-like codejam in Dublin as first proposed by Colm McHugh. Discussion rolled over into Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and with increasing momentum built on Twitter, Facebook and good old-fashioned email, Olivier wondered it the time was ripe to set up a wiki and Paul Ward stepped up and confronted the scary blank space and suggested an excellent project to get the ball rolling. I put out a tentative call for project ideas to the Social Entrepreneurs Ireland network on Wednesday night and had over 20 proposals in my inbox the next morning. The exciting thing is that there seems to be a latent hunger for this sort of event at grassroots level. And speaking of hunger there’s some significant early momentum towards cross-pollinating the event with a cook-off to feed the troops coming from Qamir (seen here pitching at Curry 2.0 in Jaipur in the Punjabi language and who has cooked for over 100 people in the past). It also turns out that the Java User’s Group were thinking similar thoughts as seen here on Paul Browne’s blog slanted towards a kindof face-off between java, php, ruby and python crowds. Which reminds me. Maybe its time to start a list of on the wiki of groups ad hoc or formal that might be interested? http://dublincodejam.pbwiki.com/ [...]

[...] Tonight’s Curry 2.0 in Dublin, organised by Paul Walsh was a great event. Around 30 entrepreneurs, investors and advisors gathered ay Jaipur in downtown Dublin for a fine meal, conversation and mild pitching. I didn’t pitch as I hate standing up in front of strange crowds of people but it didn’t prevent me wearing the Blue Monster - especially as folk from Microsoft were there.
[...] Bit late to the game on this but on Monday evening Paul Walsh is hosting a very interesting and what looks to be a very impressive evening called Curry 2.0 where a bunch of folks will compete with each other over good food by pitching their idea, not to a suit, but to a waiter. Sounds fun. There’s a nice lineup too. It being a school night, I won’t be able to go up there but were I able to I’d be going to this networking event. I think a few journalists might go along and I’m emailing a few I know to see are they interested. [...]

[...] I’ve asked the restaurant to reserve the entire top floor so we can make as much noise as we like. It also means the cool startups won’t have to pitch in front of paying customers too. Check out my original blog post if this is new to you. [...]

[...] The irrepressible Paul Walsh is having a fun-serious night in Jaipur in Dublin on July 2nd. He wants startups and investor-types to come along and see the brave do one minute pitches of their business ideas to a waiter. The winner gets a trip to London Open Coffee Club. More info at Segala.
