It’s lining up to be a great night with folk flying in from 3 countries just for a curry! Well, 4 countries when you count Cork. I just hope everyone is happy with their food on the night.

I’ve asked the restaurant to reserve the entire top floor so we can make as much noise as we like. It also means the cool startups won’t have to pitch in front of paying customers too. Check out my original blog post if this is new to you.

I’d like to thank Ben Tamblyn at Microsoft for offering Vista and Office 2007 to the winning pitch and Stormhoek for kindly sponsoring the wine for the evening. So, given that Hugh MacLeod is the creator of the Blue Monster on behalf of Steve Clayton at Microsoft, I thought it was approproate to use it here.

Below is a list of confirmed attendees (still awaiting confirmation from Hugh MacLeod). If you’d like to come for a bit of fun, please register your interest now. I’m looking for more investors to join us, so if you know of any then please point them this way.

Shame you can’t make it Steve but all with good reason. Let’s come up with something new together next time eh!

Might as well be another country. I didn’t realize the last thing smoking out of Heuston in the direction of the capital leaves no later than nine o’clock. Feh.

Julian - don’t forget your visa if you’re coming up from Cork ;)

Dublin for the subcontinent | BUBBLE BROTHERS - CORK WINE MERCHANTS

[...] If I can make the necessary transport arrangements - one of the Bubble Brothers helicopters is in for a service at the moment, which doesn’t help - I’ll be attending a meal in Dublin next Monday with several of the Irish blogistocracy and Chris Smith from Stormhoek. On almost every topic that might come up, I’m going to be way out of my depth, so the plan is to smile and nod and roll with the punches. I had a gig with Ian Date at the weekend and I think the same strategy, in similar circumstances, kinda worked there. However, before I set all the dials to bland, I’m delighted to have the opportunity to twang some copyright strings and reproduce this newspaper clipping, whose context I now forget. If you designed or published it, please let me know. I’ll take it down at once if required, but more importantly I can say thanks for making a point so drolly.  It was probably the Guardian all right. [...]

[...] Bit late to the game on this but on Monday evening Paul Walsh is hosting a very interesting and what looks to be a very impressive evening called Curry 2.0 where a bunch of folks will compete with each other over good food by pitching their idea, not to a suit, but to a waiter. Sounds fun. There’s a nice lineup too. It being a school night, I won’t be able to go up there but were I able to I’d be going to this networking event. I think a few journalists might go along and I’m emailing a few I know to see are they interested. [...]

It was good to see you Ronan. I’m delighted with the evening and look forward to doing some more networking events in Dublin soon. Dan from Microsoft is keen to do some stuff.

Thanks for organising a great night, Paul!

The starters were amazing I have to say, really some of the best food I’ve tasted in a while. The wine was excellent also so thanks to Chris from stormhoek for that.

The discussion afterwards raised some very interesting points with regard to funding/entrepreneurship & networking events in Dublin, in the web/tech arena; It was obvious, to me at least, that events like curry 2.0 on Monday need to happen more often for many reasons, one reason being that VC/Funding community can meet those involved directly with the web/tech. Also it’s a great opportunity for entrepreneur’s & newbies to network with others in the community. Apparently this type of thing happens much more in other countries, including Cork! :)

    Hi Paul,

I’ve put James’s winning pitch up on my blog. I’ll get all the clips I shot over to you somehow, soon.
