Yesterday Paddy, Brent and I attended the AJAX, Rich Media and Accessibility seminar hosted by IRL-Dean. It was a very interesting day. The venue the Guinness Storehouse based in St James’s Gate Brewery, Dublin, the home of GUINNESS.

The turn out was full of familiar faces, with some cool and very informative presentations. Starting with Heni Swan (RNIB), her presentation was titled “AJAX and staying user focused” which was followed by Joshue O Connors (NCBI) “New Challenges for Developers, and Implementing AJAX accessibility”.

Steve Faulkner (The Paciello Group) spoke about screen readers (although claiming not to be an expert) he very clearly demonstrated to the audience not only “how a screen reader works’’ but what”s actually going on in the back end(buffering etc) which was very insightful for the lads.

Finally, Des Traynor (IQContent) wrapped up the presentations with “Rich Media and Accessibility” which was quite lively and humorous. After that the Storehouse laid on a really nice lunch with some later AJAX discussions that afternoon. The day finally wrapped up with a courtesy pint of Guinness way up high in the Gravity bar. And, I have to say the view was amazing. Lastly, thanks to Hugh O’Neill (CRC) for organizing yet another successful day.
