SCRUM development
Well, i’m back at my online shop test manager role at o2 again and i am just starting up on a new project. Its a bit hush hush so i can’t go into the details. What i can say though is that the project is using SCRUM as its management methodology. It’s the first time it has been used at o2 so we are under some pretty heavy scrutiny. I think a lot of people are interested to see how it pans out because in theory, it is an excellent methodolody and it would be very suitable for many of o2′s projects. We’re getting some very positive feedback already which is always encouraging. Still, it’s very early days though so watch this space for updates…

David,
I remember working on my first Scrum Project — Fun stuff! Enjoy the experience and remember that Scrum really is the “Art of the Possible.” For some laughter (maybe?) at stuff I experience with Scrum, stop by http://www.implementingscrum.com and please let me know how things work out there!
Good luck.

I had experience on working as QA Manager within Agile/SCRUM environments. SCRUM is a great methodology for software development, as long as all project members are on site (or easily reachable), and involved in the daily catch-up meetings. The main danger area in these newer Agile methodologies is that certain areas, (such as internal/external customer requirements) can sometimes get lost in the rapid release loop. A high level of monitoring is required for SCRUM to truly succeed. The important thing that was highlighted, working within SCRUM projects, was a reminder that a project is far more than just the development. Most of these modern approaches focus on the development cycles. This sometimes causes detriment of the project as a whole, if this fact isn’t accounted for
Thanks for the comments and positive feedback guys.
I’m sure the cartoons will be plastered above our work desks before too long
We’ve got the customer requirements pretty well covered, we’ve actually got a customer representative on the team!
Thanks for the heads-up regarding losing focus on the project as a whole. I’ll definitely keep that in mind.
