Vodafone Betavine and flat rate data tariffs?
My recent post about the imminent soft launch of Vodafone’s new community Portal has attracted a lot of attention across the blogshere and traditional news sites, demonstrating the power of the blog to anyone who might be a little sceptical. Although, truth be told, if it wasn’t for people like Richard at ReadWrite/Web and Sam/Mike at Vecosys I doubt I would have seen a fraction of the traffic and Vodafone wouldn’t be as concerned about the latest speculation to grab the grape vine. I suppose my post on Web2Ireland would have stimulated some interest also.
So, I’d like to inform (moan) everyone (more moans) that the recent announcement of Vodafone’s new community portal has nothing to do with the ‘immanent arrival of flat rate data tariffs. This is from the horse’s mouth as of 29/1/07.

Personally I think it’s time we got flat rate tariffs to help users embrace the Mobile Web a little more. Moreover, I want to see ridiculously high roaming charges dropped! I’m ‘currently’ an O2 customer so my gripe isn’t with Vodafone.

but hardly surprising given the amount of mistakes I make when writing!
BTW, I think it’s a great idea. I’ve been in the mobile industry long enough to appreciate how cool it really is. Operators never give anything away for free unless their billing systems haven’t been updated at the same time as new products/services!
