Who needs more W3C meetings
First I miss the opportunity to hook up with some cool Irish folk at the recent BarCamp Ireland event.
Now I’m sitting at home when I should be at a W3C Semantic Web party hosted by Tim Berners-Lee in Boston MIT
Who by the way, I’m speaking to about next years BIMA Awards in London regarding the possibility of him attending.
The truth be told, I left it too late to book my flights and accommodation and couldn’t justify the cost (doh!). Sorcha, David and I attend W3C meetings on a regular basis so it’s important to keep the cost to an acceptable amount. It’s not all lost though as I can log into a chat room and contribute remotely.
I was also supposed to attend the Mobile Web Initiative Best Practices and Steering Council meetings. Not to mention the Content Label meeting. Content Labels appears to be getting a little bit of attention lately but nothing in comparison to what I expect in the near future. A full week of back to back meetings with some extremely intelligent people (and me) is enough to stimulate the brain cells and inspire you to add value to the future Web.
I’m also gutted for not making it across the water as I’m going to miss the usual booze up with Charles Rambo (inside joke) McCathieNevile and the chance to hook up with Aron Holzman, Microsoft’s W3C rep on the MWI – really nice guy. It wasn’t to be!
At least it means I’ve got the entire week free of meetings, allowing me to focus on getting the new Segala site (and blog) live. If I wasn’t such a stupid perfectionist the team could have delivered it twice by now – sorry guys!
